Description
Pilgrim's Farmhouse is a house dating from the mid-16th century, with alterations from the 17th and 19th centuries. It features whitewashed and rendered timber frames, topped with a black glazed pantile roof and a ridge stack located to the centre right. The building has a three-unit plan that originally included a through passage and stands two storeys high with an attic. The facade has a four-window range of 19th-century wood mullion and transom windows, each with hoodmoulds, along with similar larger windows on the ground floor and a doorway to the centre left. A tall attic window is present on the right gable end, which is made of brick. At the rear, there is an outshut, a 17th-century stair turret, and remnants of mullioned windows.
Inside, there is an arched fireplace in the room to the right. In the centre room, the north wall features two blocked doorways with flattened arched heads, indicating the original through-passage layout. A notable dog-leg staircase with acorn finials and dado panelling is present. The timber frame includes jowled principal posts, and the roof is supported by ties on arched braces and windbraces.
