Description

Walnut Shade is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century. It is timber-framed, pebble-dashed, and colourwashed, topped with a thatched roof. The building has one storey and a dormer attic. There is a plank door to the right, sheltered by a sloping porch hood. The windows are mid-19th century casements. The gabled roof features one eaves dormer beneath the swept thatching, which includes a 3-light 19th century casement. A rebuilt ridge stack is located to the left of centre. Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered bridging beams, and the east room contains a wide fireplace with a winder staircase beside it.
