Description

Eye Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the late 16th century, with a north wing that was extended during the 17th century and further remodeled in the late 18th century. There have been alterations in the 20th century. The building features part timber framing with painted brick infill, and it is largely encased in brick and sandstone rubble, with a sandstone rubble plinth and stacks that have brick shafts. The roofs are partly covered in Welsh slate and partly tiled. The farmhouse has an L-shaped plan, with the earlier wing extending to the north and an additional wing to the west. It has both axial and lateral stacks and the main entrance is located on the west front.

The structure is two to three storeys high. The west front includes a two-storey section on the left with two 2-light casement windows. The main house has one 3-light casement window and one 2-light window to the left, along with one 3-light window and another 3-light casement window with a segmental head to the right. On the ground floor, there is a 3-light casement window with a brick relieving arch to the left of the doorway, which features a gabled canopy and a ledged door. To the right, there is another 3-light window and a 4-light casement window. The gable end of the cross-wing to the right has a 3-light casement window in the gable, with a 3-light window on the first floor and a 4-light window on the ground floor. There is also a projecting canted bay window addition to the left-hand return of the cross-wing. The east (rear) side of the building displays English bond brickwork with relieving arches over the window openings. The interior retains some chamfered beams.
