Description
Tythings Cottage is a cottage dating from the early to mid 19th century. It features a timber frame with brick and plaster infill and has a slate roof. A large rubble chimney is located on the southeast side, with a detached brick shaft, and there is a brick extension to the northwest. The cottage has a two-room front with an additional room extension to the left. It stands two storeys high and has two windows plus one window in the extension, all fitted with metal casements and weathered hoods over the southwest ground floor windows. There is a gabled porch with a 20th-century door at the center of the main part. The first-floor joists are visible on the southwest front, showcasing very thin scantling and single pegged timber-framing on a rubble plinth, with some of the frame partially replaced by brick, such as the quoins on the right-hand corner. A gabled dormer on the extension faces northeast.
