Description
The Elms is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. It features a timber-framed structure with plaster and brick infill panels, topped with a tiled roof and an external stack at the rear. The building has one storey and an attic, arranged in three bays with regular window placement. The left two bays contain matched early 20th-century casements, while the right bay has a 19th-century casement. Each of the three bays includes a gabled dormer with a four-pane casement. The entrance is located to the right of the central casement and is accessed through a ledged 20th-century door. The frame panels are irregular up to the level of the ground floor window heads, where they change into a regular band that holds the structure together, possibly due to restoration. The front corner posts feature symmetrical struts, and there are weatherings on the girding beams, gable tie-beams, and collars.
