Description

Town House Farmhouse and attached byre is a cottage farmhouse that may date back to the 16th or 17th century, with extensions made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building features a timber frame with plaster panels and a slate roof, along with an external local type stack at the rear where it meets the extension. It stands two storeys tall, originally designed as one storey with an attic, and consists of four bays. There is one metal casement window in each of the two right-hand bays and in the left bay, with similar casements in each of the first-floor bays except for the right-hand bay, which has irregular and patched framing instead of a window. A 20th-century door located under a contemporary gabled porch leads to a cross-passage. The area of irregular framing and the right-hand gable framing suggest that the eaves have been raised by one panel. To the left is a slightly lower byre with four evenly spaced vertical studs set quite close together, with its entrance located at the rear. The byre has a wall-plate that corresponds to that of the main part before it was raised.
