Description
Cartlands is a cottage dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century and an extension added in the late 20th century. The structure features a part-timber frame with painted brick and daub infill, topped by an old tile gabled roof. It has a rectangular plan consisting of three framed bays and two gabled extensions at the rear, and it stands two storeys high with chimneys on the gables.
On the south front, there are two gabled dormers with casement windows that break the eaves. The 19th-century windows include a two-light casement on the left and a single-light casement on the right, both featuring glazing bars. To the left of the center is a now disused 20th-century plank door with a glazed panel. The entrance door is located in a gabled porch on the right-hand return front. Inside, parts of the timber frame are visible.
