Description
Old Solomons is a cottage dating from the late 16th century, with extensions added in the late 17th century and alterations made in the 20th century. The structure is timber framed with brick infill and features an old tiled gabled roof, along with a cat slide roof at the rear. Originally, it had an L-shaped plan consisting of two by one framed bays, which was later extended to a rectangular plan. The cottage is two storeys high and has a gable chimney on the left side, set upon a flint plinth.
The south front includes one four-light casement window on the first floor to the left, which is set in a projecting frame supported by brackets. On the ground floor, there are two two-light casement windows flanking a plain entrance door located to the left of centre, which is sheltered by a simple tiled gabled porch supported by wooden posts. On the east gable, there is a clay date panel that has been re-set, inscribed with "GTM 1673." Inside, some of the timber frame is exposed.
