Description

Cromwell Cottage is a late 16th-century cottage and former byre, altered in the 20th century. It is timber-framed with painted brick and rendered infill, and has a thatched, gabled roof. The building comprises a rectangular main section of three framed bays, and a former byre of two bays. It is two storeys high, with a gable chimney on the right-hand side. The windows are irregular 19th-century casements, with two on the upper level and three on the ground floor. The central entrance features a 6-panel door in a moulded case, with a plain flat hood above. Internally, much of the timber frame is exposed. Principal beams on the ground floor are chamfered; those in the former byre are plain. The cottage adjoins Telford Cottage to the left, which is listed separately.
