Description

Forge Cottage is a cottage located abutting and to the right of The Forge, which is listed separately. It dates from the late 16th century and was extended in the 19th or early 20th century. The cottage features part timber framing with painted brick infill and part painted brick construction. It has a hipped old tile roof and a rectangular plan consisting of one framed bay, with an extension on the northwest and a flat-roofed extension at the rear. The cottage is two storeys high and has a chimney on the ridge. On the first floor, there are two 2-light casements, and on the ground floor, there is one similar casement located to the right of a 20th-century plank door. The interior reveals some visible framing and has a queen post roof.
