Description
Forge Cottage, located 8 metres north of The Forge, is a cottage dating from the early 17th century, which has been altered in the 19th century and extended in the 20th century. The building features a combination of part timber frame with painted brick infill and part painted brick, topped with an old tile gabled roof. It has a gabled dormer and a 20th-century chimney on the left side. The cottage is one and a half storeys high with an additional single storey.
On the entrance front, there are two framed bays on the right that include an arch brace, a 20th-century metal casement window in the dormer, and two 20th-century wood casement windows on the ground floor. To the left, there is a single bay that is a 19th-century brick extension, which projects forward and features a two-light casement window on the ground floor and an enclosed porch with a pent tile roof in the re-entrant. Inside, most of the timber frame is visible.
