Description

The Forge, now a workshop, dates to the 18th and 19th centuries and has been altered since its original construction. It is built of painted brick with a hipped roof covered in old tiles, and features a tall forge chimney on the left side. The building has an L-shaped layout and adjoins Lavender Cottage, which is also listed. The front, facing the road, has two 20th-century fixed light windows in older frames, and a pair of ledged, braced, and battened doors. Inside, the original queen strut roof remains, although it has been altered in places, and original horse tethering rings are visible on the rear wall. The Forge is included on the list for its historical significance and contribution to the surrounding group of buildings.
