Description

Scarletts is an 18th-century country house and service wing, altered in the 20th century and now subdivided into three properties. It is constructed of painted brick with a painted wood cornice, a brick parapet, an old tile hipped roof, and irregular brick chimneys. The house has an L-shaped plan and extends over two storeys, with cellars and attics.

The east front has six bays, featuring sash windows with glazing bars. An arched entrance porch is roughly centred, with a later porch added to the right. A lower service extension of two bays is located on the left. The north front presents two angular bays running the full height, each with three sash windows; those on the first floor have glazing bars. A central bay includes a 20th-century small sash window on the ground floor. The west front features a projecting bay on the left with a sash window and glazing bars on the first floor, and an arched porch with a dentil cornice below. To the right is a recessed brick wing containing a Venetian window, with the remaining windows being sashes of irregular design.

Inside, the drawing room and dining room retain good 18th-century fireplace surrounds and cornices. There's also some 17th-century panelling in the entrance hall, which was brought in from another location.
