Description
Buddings Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It features a timber-framed structure with brick infill, a brick refacing on the south front, weatherboarding on the west gable end, a sandstone plinth, and an external stack. The roof is tiled. The house has three framed bays aligned east to west and faces south, with lean-to additions on the north and west sides.
The central entrance is marked by a large external stack, which has a missing shaft on the west gable end and is partly enclosed by the lean-to. There is also a later 19th-century lateral stack to the north. The building is two storeys high, with the south front displaying three windows that have rounded brick surrounds and segmental heads. The first floor features a single casement window flanked by two-light casement windows, while similar three-light windows flank the central doorway, which has a rounded brick surround and a segmental head, leading to a ledged door. The framing at the rear (north) is largely complete, showing three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate.
