Description

Ivy House and Barn is a farmhouse and barn dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of coursed and banded limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. It has Collyweston and slate roofs, with raised stone coped gables, a single ashlar gable stack with a moulded cornice, and a single yellow brick wall, ridge, and two gable stacks.

The structure is two storeys high with a garret and has a three-bay front. The entrance is off-centre, featuring a six-panelled door with panelled reveals and a fluted doorcase that leads to a leaded pedimented head with a dentillated frieze. This is flanked by single canted 20th-century glazing bar bay windows with early 19th-century bases and flat roofs. To the right, there is a similar bay window. On the first floor, there are three glazing bar sashes with flat stone arches and keyblocks.

To the right of the main block is a two-storey, single-bay hipped roof section, which has a two-light plain window on the ground floor and a boarded light on the first floor. To the left, there is another single-bay, two-storey block with a 20th-century planked door above which is the moulded and dentillated frieze of a vanished early 19th-century bow window. A glazing bar sash is present on the first floor of this section. Beyond this, there is a single-storey, three-bay barn with planked central double doors, flanked by two-light boarded openings at the eaves and pairs of breathers.
