Description

Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th century, early 19th century modifications, and restoration in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, while the rear range is banded with red brick. The roofs are made of Collyweston slate, with raised stone coped gables and single gable, ridge, and wall ashlar stacks, two of which have moulded cornices.

The building has a T-plan layout. The north front is two storeys high with attics and consists of three bays, with the right-hand bay being advanced and gabled. The ground floor features a pent-roofed 17th-century dairy covering the left-hand bays, which contains two fixed lights with glazing bars and leaded glass. To the right, there is a four-light window, above which is a similar window, while to the left are a three-light and a four-light window. The right gable includes a further three-light window. All windows are adorned with moulded stone surrounds, hoods, and cavetto moulded mullions. In the roof, there is a small gabled dormer with a two-light casement and slate-hung cheeks.

The south front features three and four-light mullioned windows and one blocked window. The west front has a large partially external stack that is now partly interrupted by a three-light mullioned window. To the left is a similar window, both of which are ovolo moulded. Above, there is a short section of chamfered string course and a three-light cavetto moulded mullioned window on the first floor. The interior retains a large four-centred arched stone fireplace associated with the external stack, a four-centred arched doorway, and chamfered and stopped beams.
