Description

The War Memorial, located on Castle Hill in Mountsorrel, was constructed in 1926 by Shirley Harrison. It is made of dressed and tooled granite and takes the form of an archway with a monolith lintel, standing on a pedestal that is mounted on a stepped plinth. The memorial is surrounded by low corner piers and bollards. The lower part of the archway features a screen with the names of the fallen inscribed on metal plaques, and there is also a metal plaque on the pedestal that reads 'IN MEMORY 1914-1918'.
