Description

These two cottages stand on Watling Street in Mountsorrel, dating from around 1840. They are built of granite rubble stone with buff brick quoins, dressings, and decorative eaves. The roof is slate, hipped on the left side, and features two brick ridge stacks comprising three linked flues each. The cottages are designed in the Tudor style, with hood moulds above the ground floor windows. The gables are finished with shouldered brick coping and kneelers, with a small projecting gable on the left side. The windows are predominantly 2-light casements, with a 1/1 sash window above a 2-light casement on the left end. A central Tudor-arched doorway leads to a plank door, while a further Tudor-arched doorway to the left has a four-panelled door and a 1-light window on both floors. The property is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
