Description

The War Memorial Cemetery Gateway in Wainfleet All Saints, built around 1918, is constructed from limestone ashlar. It features a rectangular shape with a moulded semi-circular headed archway that has a scrolled keystone and moulded imposts. On either side of the archway, there are pairs of columns with foliate capitals and high plinths, with plaques inscribed with the names of the fallen positioned in between. The spandrels display the dates 1914 and 1918. Above the archway, an entablature is topped with a large inscription block that reads: "Erected in memory of the men of Wainfleet All Saints who fell in the Great War." A moulded cornice is present above this inscription.
