Description

The boundary wall and gate piers to 113 Princess Road East are likely from around 1872 and were designed by Goddard & Son. The structure features red brick laid in English bond, accented with blue brick and stone. The wall extends approximately 20 meters along Regent Road, 75 meters along University Road, and 35 meters along Princess Road East. There are two pairs of gate piers on Princess Road East, one located north of the main house and another at the entrance. These piers are square in shape with chamfered corners and stone detailing, and one of the entrance piers retains a ball finial. The wall has a base of red brick topped with a course of blue brick, and features coping made of blue brick and stone, with square, stone-capped piers placed about every 5 meters. Although the metal railings that once topped the wall are now missing, there are still two wrought-iron gates, one on University Road and another on Princess Road East. This boundary wall and gate piers form an important group with Lansdowne House.
