Description
De Montfort Hall is a Grade II listed building completed in 1913, designed by the architects Stockdale Harrison and Sons. This large but low classical structure is finished in stucco and features a wide pedimented end that faces Victoria Park. It has rusticated angle pilasters and a continuous wide panel beneath the pediment. The ground floor is marked by a Tuscan colonnade with a continuous entablature, and there is a projecting porch at the center supported by four columns, with large panelled piers at the corners. The entrance within the porch is a large round arch. The building is topped with a slate roof that has wide overhanging eaves. Inside, the auditorium is plain, featuring a segmental vaulted ceiling supported by large brackets, a plain balcony on three sides, and an organ positioned over the stage.
