Description
The lodges and gates located north-east of the war memorial in Victoria Park were built in 1923 and designed by the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. This pair of lodges flanks the gates and is constructed with stucco to simulate ashlar. Each lodge is a single storey, rectangular building topped with a slate hipped roof, featuring corner pavilions and two tall chimney stacks with cornices. The buildings have quoins at the angles and include sash windows with glazing bars set in rusticated architraves, along with doorways that have pulvinated friezes and cornices. The gateway between the lodges is made of rusticated ashlar and includes pilastered gate piers with cornices and urn finials. The ornate iron gates feature an overthrow that incorporates a coat of arms.
