Description
De Montfort House is part of a mid-19th century terrace that forms the northwest side of De Montfort Square. The building is constructed from gault brick and features stuccoed architraves, bands, and chamfered quoins. It has a slate hipped roof and a wide modillion cornice. The terrace consists of three storeys with fifteen windows; the end window and the three center windows project slightly and have chamfered quoins. The windows are sashes without glazing bars and have moulded shouldered architraves, with first-floor cornice hoods supported on console brackets. The center three and end windows on the first floor are casements with cast-iron balconies. The entrance doors are panelled and have rectangular fanlights set in moulded shouldered architraves. The left side of the building returns onto Princess Road with four windows, while the right side returns onto New Walk with three windows. De Montfort House, along with Nos 1 to 11 (odd), No. 55, and Nos 98 to 104 (even) New Walk, as well as Nos 77 to 97 (odd) Princess Road, form a group around De Montfort Square.
