Description
62 and 64 New Walk are a pair of attractive early 19th-century attached houses. They are finished in stucco and feature a panelled high parapet with key-motif decoration. The buildings are two storeys tall with a basement and have six windows in total. The two central windows are set back, while the ends are recessed and include doorways flanked by paired pilasters that support a heavy entablature. The projecting bays on the first and second floors also have paired pilasters with decorated necks, which carry a deep entablature topped with a heavy cornice across the front. All windows are sashes with glazing bars set in moulded architraves. The ground floor features a central recess with a decorated cast iron verandah.
These houses, along with Nos 58 to 64 (even), No 47 New Walk Museum, and Nos 1, 3, and 5 Museum Square, including Nos 59 to 61 (odd) Princess Road West and No 1 West Street, form a group around Museum Square.
