Description

This early 19th-century building comprises numbers 59 and 61 Princess Road West, and 1 West Street. Constructed of brick with a slate hipped roof and a moulded eaves cornice, the building is three storeys high. It originally had four windows, though the right-hand windows on the first and second floors have been blocked, with flat brick arches. The windows are mostly sash windows with glazing bars, with sashes on the left-hand side having margin lights. A sill band runs along the first-floor windows, and there is a plinth at ground level.

Numbers 59 and 61 feature a central doorcase with flat pilasters, a cornice, and semi-circular fanlights containing radial bars. The doors are panelled. The design and construction of the 1 West Street elevation are consistent, with three windows.

The property forms a group with numbers 1, 3, and 5 Museum Square, 47 New Walk, New Walk Museum, and numbers 58 to 64 (even) New Walk, all situated around Museum Square.
