Description
This boundary wall dates from the early 19th century and originally formed the eastern boundary of the Lansdowne Nursery Estate, built for the Marquess of Lansdowne. The wall is constructed of red brick, with brick tile copings and blue brick diaper patterns incorporated into several of the bay panels. The road-facing (east) side of the wall sits on a slightly sloping and reinforced retaining structure, built using a Flemish bond pattern for the lower courses, capped with three rows of headers, and a garden wall bond above. The wall is divided into a longer section to the north of the former entrance to the estate (number 94, Nursery Garden Entrance and Portico), and a shorter section to the south. Both sections have short returns to the west at the north and south corners. A gateway for carriages is visible toward the north end. The wall is listed at Group Value, meaning that its significance is linked to that of the adjacent building at 94 Greatbridge Road, which is part of the same construction.
