Description

Hamilton House is a mid-to-late 18th century building, likely with later alterations. It is two storeys and has an attic. The roof is of old tile, with one flat-roofed dormer window. The building is constructed of red brick.

The first floor has two sash windows without glazing bars, but with architrave frames flanked by panelled pilasters, each featuring circular decorative elements in the top corners. On the ground floor, to the north-east is an angular canted bay with a moulded cornice. This bay contains three sash windows, with narrower sash windows in the side light. Above the bay, and flush with the main wall, is a stuccoed rectangular pediment. To the south-west is a door with six fielded panels, the top two panels cut away and glazed. The door frame is also panelled. The doorway is flanked by panelled pilasters, a moulded frieze, and a moulded rectangular pediment with dentils, all of which project forward over the pilaster capitals.

Hamilton House forms a group with numbers 45 to 51 (odd) on Cherville Street.
