Description

Badger Hey and Badger Hey Cottage is a small terrace building dating from 1759, as indicated by a datestone. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with quoins, and the north elevation is partly rendered. The roof is pitched and covered with stone slate, which has recently been turned. The building has two storeys.

For Badger Hey Cottage, the south elevation features a ground floor entrance with quoins and a deep lintel, which is partly blocked. There is one four-light stone mullioned window that is chamfered and recessed, along with one three-light and one two-light stone mullioned window, both also chamfered and recessed. The east gable has a modern lean-to extension. The north elevation includes various modern casements, some of which are in original openings.

For Badger Hey, the south elevation has a ground floor entrance with quoins and an initial and date on the deep lintel: E S 17 59. There is one four-light stone mullioned window that is recessed and one three-light stone mullioned window that is also recessed. On the first floor, there are three two-light stone mullioned windows, with some rebuilding evident. To the west, there is a former barn that has been largely rebuilt and now features modern garage openings, along with two two-light windows. The north elevation has various modern casements, some in original openings.
