Description

A pair of cottages located on Thurlstone Road in Penistone, dating from the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed of coursed, squared rubble with a stone slate roof. Each cottage is two storeys high and one bay wide. Quoins are visible. Each cottage has an entrance to the left, featuring a deep lintel and a substantial quoined surround. A single window is present on each floor, originally with plain surrounds, though some may be later replacements. Four-pane sash windows are on the left, while casement windows are on the right. Ashlar stacks are located on the ridge, one in the centre and one at the right end; the right-hand stack has been heightened with brick. The left return displays a blocked window in the gable apex. An outshut is situated at the rear.
