Description

Nether Mill Cottage and Nether Mill Farmhouse are two houses dating from the early 18th century, with alterations and additions from the 19th century. They are constructed of thinly-coursed rubble and are rendered at the rear, topped with a stone slate roof. The buildings are arranged in an L-plan and rise to two storeys, each having three bays.

The farmhouse features a central doorway with a quoined surround and a deep lintel. It has a three-light double-chamfered window on both the left and right sides on the upper floors, while the ground floor right has a two-light window. Above the door, there is a small chamfered light, and a drip moulding runs over the door and the left window. The quoins to the right of the door suggest that the right bay is a 19th-century addition, which includes re-set windows. Stone brackets support the gutter, and there are two ashlar ridge stacks along with a stone stack at the right end.

Projecting from the left side is the cottage, which has loading doors on each floor of its gable end, with the ground floor door now converted into a window. The front of the cottage features a 20th-century central porch and a three-light double-chamfered window to the left on both floors, along with a two-light window on the ground floor to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
