Description
Nos 70 and 72 on West Lane are two dwellings that were originally a single house built in the late 18th century and converted into cottages in the early 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed millstone grit and features a stone slate roof. It stands two storeys tall and has two windows on the first floor. The corners of the building are marked by quoins.
The central entrance has a part-glazed 20th-century door set within a plain stone surround that includes impost blocks. Each floor has two three-light, flat-faced mullioned windows with plain stone surrounds, and the central light is positioned below. There is an end stack on the left side and a rebuilt ridge stack. On the right gable, there is a door in a plain stone surround with interrupted jambs, along with a 20th-century pent porch that is not of special interest.
