Description
The Baptist Chapel in Haworth was built in 1752, enlarged in 1775, and rebuilt in 1844. It is constructed of ashlar with coursed millstone grit on the sides and has stone slate roofs. The chapel is two storeys high and features a three by five bay layout. The gable front has two doorways adorned with Tuscan pilasters and cornices. Each floor has three round-arched windows with glazing bars, projecting cills, and voussoirs. There is a moulded eaves band and a pediment with a modillioned cornice, along with a datestone set in a moulded surround and ashlar coping. The right side of the building has rusticated quoins. On the ground floor, there are three unequally-hung sashes and one taller sash, all with projecting cills and plain lintels. The first floor features five round-arched six-pane sashes in architraves, complete with keystones and imposts. There is an end stack on the right gable. Additionally, there is a later single-storey, seven-bay addition to the right, and a later cross-wing at the far right.
