Description
The Post House and Farm Cottage is a pair of houses built in 1892, featuring elements from the 17th century. Constructed from sandstone rubble with a slate roof, the buildings are two storeys high. The windows are rebated and chamfered, with mullions. The Post House, located on the right, has a drip course and ground-floor windows that appear to be 17th century and re-used. To the left of the door, there are windows with 2 and 4 lights, while to the right, there is a window with 3 lights. On the first floor, there are two windows with 3 lights and a central window with 2 lights. The door has a moulded surround topped with a battlemented lintel inscribed with 'ID NDE 1677'. The Cottage, which is a gabled cross wing on the left, also features a drip course, a ground-floor window with 4 lights, and an upper window with 3 lights. The gable has coping with kneelers and a ball finial. There is a lean-to projection against the left-hand return wall. The Post House has chimneys on both the left and right sides. The rear wall of The Cottage mirrors its front facade, with a doorway in the lean-to on the right, which has a moulded surround and an embattled lintel inscribed with '18 S 92'. The rear wall of the Post House includes some rebated and chamfered mullioned windows.
