Description

Bothy Cottage and the other buildings grouped around the courtyard south of Post Office Cottage were constructed around 1890, likely by the architect Douglas. They are made of sandstone rubble and feature slate roofs. The buildings are two stories tall and have mullioned windows. Bothy Cottage, located on the south side of the courtyard, includes a wide workshop entrance in its north wall, with a 2-light window above it. The cottage also has a 3-light window on the ground floor and a 4-light gabled dormer.

On the west wall of the building that forms the east side of the courtyard, there is a wide sliding door, and above it is a gabled attic dormer with a 3-light window. A wide chamfered opening with a round arch serves as a passageway through the building. The northern building features a 2-light window in its west gable wall, with a similar window above it on the first floor. To the left of this window is a doorway with a moulded surround and a shaped lintel. Additionally, a timber louvre is situated on the ridge of the roof, and all gables are topped with copings, most of which have ball finials.
