Description
These are a pair of cottages dating from the early 19th century, situated on the A433 in Barnsley Village. The cottages are constructed from coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins, and have a stone slate roof with three stone stacks – one on the ridge and two at the ends. They consist of a single range with a rear outshut creating a catslide roof. The cottages are two storeys high with four windows. The windows are 20th-century metal casements, paired in No. 10, set in plain reveals and with some new timber lintels. Flush quoins are also present. The ground floor features a single three-light window on the outer side of both cottages, matching the style of the other windows. No. 10 retains a central boarded front door and a two-light paired metal casement window on the inner side. No. 11 has a relocated boarded door with a small single light window to the right.
