Description
This is a barn located at Church Farm, southeast of number 14 in Barnsley Village, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed from random coursed and partially snecked rubble stone, featuring flush quoins and a stone slate roof. The barn has a large gabled projecting cart entrance on the west side, which includes a hipped roof directly above a large sliding double door. On the right side, there are two slit vents with flush dressings, and on the south wall, there is a pitch hole above another slit vent at the top. The upper part of the north wall also contains slit vents. A stone lean-to is present on the northeast side, and there is a probable opposed cart entry that is obscured by a 20th-century iron shed against the east wall. It is said to have five bays, but the interior is not accessible. The barn is set back from the road.
