Description
88 and 90 Holgate Road are two houses built around 1845-1850. They are constructed of brick with painted stone dressings and have a slate roof. The buildings are two storeys high with attics and cellars. Each house has two bays, featuring a canted bay window on the left side of the ground floor, which is painted white and has a casement window facing forward. The first-floor windows are glazing bar sashes with brick flat arches. No. 90 includes a dormer with a pitched roof and a cellar window with glazing bars, while No. 88 has a flat-roofed 20th-century dormer and a casement window for the cellar. Both houses have a pilaster doorcase in the right-hand bay, leading to a four-panel door with a plain rectangular overlight. The gutter is supported by shaped timber brackets, and there are shared chimneys on the left and right sides, as well as between the two houses. The interior has not been inspected.
