Description

These mid-19th century forecourt walls, railings, and gates stand before numbers 90 and 92 on Holgate Road, York. The low brick walls are topped with stone coping. Cast-iron railings, featuring pointed finials, run along the wall tops. The gate standards (posts) have pine cone finials. The left-hand gate pier to number 92 is of cast-iron, square in plan, and decorated with an open interlaced design, topped with a pine cone finial. The right-hand gate pier has been replaced with steel. The gate piers to number 90 are also cast-iron, with an open interlaced design, and flat palmette finials.
