Description
5 Mount Terrace is a house, now used as offices, built between 1827 and 1828 with some alterations from the late 19th century. The building features mottled brick with red brick additions and some painted stone dressings, topped with a slate roof.
The exterior consists of two storeys above a basement and has two bays. On the right side, there is a late 19th-century canted bay window with a slate roof, painted stone lintels, and sash windows at both the ground-floor and basement levels. The basement-level opening on the right side is blind. The first-floor windows are glazing bar sashes with a sill band.
The doorway on the left is accessed by a flight of external stone and concrete steps. The doorcase includes engaged fluted columns, a frieze with triglyphs, and a mutule cornice. The door itself has six raised and fielded panels, and the semicircular overlight features three vertical divisions. Rectangular timber brackets support a plastic gutter, and there is an axial chimney located behind the ridge. The interior has not been inspected.
