19, Mount Parade

This is a house located at 19 Mount Parade, dating from around 1830. It is constructed of brick with painted stone or stucco dressings and has a slate roof.

The north facade, which is adjacent to No. 77 Holgate Road, features two storeys above a semi-basement and consists of two bays. The windows are glazing bar sashes, with those on the basement and ground floors having painted rusticated lintels that include keystones. The gutter is supported by rectangular timber brackets, and there is a shared ridge chimney on the left side.

The right-hand gable wall, which faces east, has two storeys plus attics above a shallow basement. The windows here are also glazing bar sashes with painted rusticated lintels. Above the central window on the first floor, there is a rusticated elliptical arch, and the gable coping is stepped above a similar window that provides light to the attic. Below the left-hand ground-floor window, there is a small basement window.

The central doorcase features engaged fluted columns, a frieze with triglyphs, and a mutule cornice. The overlight has geometrical glazing, and the door itself has six raised and fielded panels. To the right of the main structure, there is a small single-storey projection with a pitched roof. The interior has not been inspected.
