Description

This is a house, dating to around 1825, located on South Quay in Great Yarmouth. The facade is built of gault brick, which has been colourwashed. It has slate roofs and a double-pile plan. The front of the house is three storeys and three bays wide, with pilaster strips defining each bay. It has a three-window range. A three-bay portico with four fluted Doric columns supports a plain entablature on the ground floor, and a wrought-iron balcony is present. The first floor has three 6/6 sash windows, set within shallow recesses, and the second floor has three similar 3/6 sash windows. A low parapet sits above the windows. Two gabled roofs are visible. The north side of the building is plain, with a parapet between the two gabled roofs and two wall stacks. The rear elevation, which is also three bays wide, features 6/6 and 3/6 sash windows matching those on the front, along with a 20th-century lean-to on the ground floor.

The interior has an open-well staircase with stick balusters and a reeded, ramped, and wreathed handrail. An oval lantern is located at the top of the staircase. The first and second floors each have two rooms accessible via curved six-panelled doors. The front room on the first floor has a fluted plaster cornice. Later 20th-century doors provide access to No.17 to the south. The cellar has been partially rebuilt.
