Description
No. 12 South Quay is a house originally built in the 18th century. It was completely destroyed during a bombing raid in 1942 and was rebuilt in 1948 to match its original design. The building is constructed of red brick and features a roof made of black-glazed pantiles. It stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range. To the left, there is a panelled door set within a reeded doorcase. To the right, there are two 6/6 horned sash windows under gauged skewback arches, with three similar windows on each floor above. The first-floor sash windows have a continuous cast-iron balcony, while the second-floor windows each have their own separate balconies. The house is topped with a modillion eaves cornice and a gabled roof. An extension was added to the rear in 1988. This building is included for its group value.
