Description

Cumberland House is a house built around 1834, constructed from orange-brown brick in Flemish bond, topped with a pyramidal slate roof featuring a central brick ridge stack. The building is symmetrical, with two storeys and three bays. The windows are glazing bar sashes set beneath rubbed brick flat arches. The entrance features a doorcase with fluted engaged columns, a fluted frieze, a modillion cornice, and panelled reveals. The door itself has six raised and fielded panels along with a radial fanlight. A timber gutter is supported by rectangular brackets.

The interior has been partially inspected and includes an original staircase and plaster ceiling coving in the entrance hall. In the front rooms, there are cast-iron fire grates, one of which is in its original surround, along with original picture rails and ceiling coving. On the first floor, there are four bedrooms featuring original cast-iron fireplaces and three bedrooms with original plaster ceiling coving or cornice.
