Description
74 and 76 Holgate Road are two houses that have been converted into a hotel, built around 1845-1850 with some 20th-century alterations. The buildings are constructed of brick, featuring some painted stone or stucco details, and have a concrete tile roof.
The exterior consists of three storeys above cellars. The windows are modern 20th-century casements. On the ground floor, there are two canted bay windows with moulded cornices and rendered bases that include cellar windows. The upper floor windows have rendered sill bands and painted rusticated lintels. To the right of the right-hand bay window, a modern ground-floor window opening has replaced a former doorway. Adjacent to the left-hand bay window, there is a pilaster doorcase with a mutule cornice, panelled reveals, and an overlight with margin panes. The gutter is supported by shaped brackets, and there are chimneys near the centre of the ridge, shared on the left side. The interior has not been inspected.
