Description
Springfield House is a house that has been converted into a hotel, dating from around 1850. It features roughcast over brick construction, steeply pitched slate roofs, overhanging eaves, and decorative bargeboards. The building has tall octagonal chimney pots set on square plinths located at the center of the main range and at the gable end of the cross wing.
The northeast front has one and a half storeys with a T-plan layout, comprising two bays on the upper floor and one bay on the lower floor. All the windows are 19th-century, featuring two-light casements with multiple panes. The gables have decorative bargeboards on the dormers to the left, with a window in the gable end to the right. The ground floor includes a four-bay verandah with arches supported by wooden columns that carry a slate roof. There is a window on the left and a half-glazed door on the right, along with inserted 20th-century French windows in the gable end.
The right return faces the road and has two bays, with similar dormers that have finials. There is a 20th-century window on the southwest gable end, but otherwise, the building remains much as it was originally constructed.
