Description

Nos. 12 and 14 Market Street and 75 Albion Street is a former public house and shop, remodeled around 1860 from an earlier 19th-century building. It is constructed of brick with glazed coloured tiles on the ground floor and has a Welsh slate roof. The building stands three stories high and features a six-window range facing Albion Street, with a former entrance at the corner, and a four-window return range on Market Street.

The doorway on the Albion Street elevation is located towards the center and has an overlight that is cut by a segmentally-arched projecting hood. This elevation also includes flanking tripartite and squared fixed-light windows, divided into bays by tiled pilasters, with recessed panels beneath the windows. A similar doorway and window arrangement is present on the Market Street elevation.

The first-floor windows are sashes with six-pane upper lights and shallow plastered pedimented heads. The building has a moulded overhanging cornice and end wall stacks. The shop on the right side of Market Street is part of the same structure, featuring an inserted shop door and window beneath the original fascia, which has console brackets. The upper sash windows also have six-pane upper lights and shallow pedimented heads.
