Description
Nos. 2 and 4 Timberhill is a public house with a former use that is unknown. The building dates from the 17th century, with elements from the early and late 19th century, and has undergone 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of brick and features a modern concrete tiled roof with a brick chimney. The building stands three storeys tall and has four first-floor sash windows, each with four lights and horns. The second floor has four windows that are blocked. The late 19th-century pub front on the ground floor has seven bays, with six four-light sash windows separated by pilasters. There is a central double door, with each leaf being two-panelled and an oblong fan light above featuring geometric glazing bars. Each window has a recessed panel beneath it. The building is adorned with flat pilasters that have egg and dart moulding at the caps, and it has a heavy projecting cornice with a Cavetto profile. Inside, there are early 17th-century moulded beams that have largely been obscured by modern additions of ancient timbers.
