Description

No. 8 Orford Hill is a former house that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the late 18th century, with a 17th-century rear block. The building is constructed of brick and stucco, and it has three storeys and three bays. The left side features horizontal rustication, while the right side has a plain shopfront with consoles and a fascia. The building has sash windows throughout, which include glazing bars and flat rubbed brick arches with scroll keystones. The central first-floor window is adorned with a hood that is supported by consoles and turned balusters. The centre bay projects slightly, and the building has end quoins. A moulded cornice runs beneath the parapet, which includes a central plinth for a statue.
