Description

This is a row of four houses located at 2, 4, and 6 Off Botanic Road in Southport, originally built in the 17th century and altered over time. Nos. 1 and 2 have been combined into one dwelling, and the former No. 8 has been integrated with No. 6. The houses are primarily cruck-framed, with a white-rendered brick exterior and a steeply-pitched thatched roof that is slightly stepped down from No. 4 to No. 6. The left side of the roof is half-hipped, while the right end of No. 2 has a slate roof.

The row is mostly one storey high, except for the right-hand end of No. 2, which has two storeys. There is a total of 11 windows across the front. Doorways are located between the first and second, seventh and eighth, and tenth and eleventh windows, all featuring square-headed openings with board doors. The windows are sliding sash types, with the first six having two lights and the others having three lights. No. 2 also has a similar three-light window on the first floor. The row features four single-flue chimneys along the ridge, with an additional chimney at the right-hand gable of No. 2.

Inside, there are full cruck frames visible between the fourth and fifth windows, and the sixth and seventh windows. This row of houses forms a group with No. 10 and No. 14 nearby.
