Description
A house, likely built in the mid to later 18th century, and subsequently altered, stands at 34 and 36 Manor Road, Southport. Originally conceived as a double-depth, double-fronted dwelling, it is now divided into two flats and features a large lean-to extension at the left end. The exterior is characterised by scored render on brickwork and a composition tile roof, with stone slates on the lean-to. The façade is almost symmetrical, though altered, with a three-window range that originally likely comprised two. The doorway is offset to the right and has been enlarged and modified in the 19th century, with a quoined surround, a floating hoodmould, a panelled and glazed door, and a plain overlight above. The upper floors each have two 8/8 sash windows with raised sills, and a narrow one-light fixed window sits above the doorway. Extruded chimneys are present on both gables. The full-height lean-to includes a small-paned 2-light casement window at ground floor. The return wall on the right side displays two 2-light sliding sash attic windows. The interior is understood to have been remodelled. The building forms a group with numbers 29-31A Botanic Road, located next door to the left.
